Give Thanks: Day 7 ~ Emrie

I never could have imagined how awesome being a mommy would be, but when I look at my little girl, I get a small feeling of how much God must love us!

Emrie is an extremely active, curious, funny little girl. She isn't just walking anymore...she runs...everywhere! She must always be carrying something in her hand as well, the heavier the better! She will find the biggest book she can physically hold and pick it up and run through the kitchen with it.

The other day I turned around to see her standing in her socks on an open cardboard book and sliding back and forth on the pages laughing. It was like she was snowboarding and she thought it was hilarious. I thought about picking her up because it wasn't safe, but I just let it go. The kid will learn eventually and in the meantime she is having fun!

A couple of weeks ago I was sitting at dining room table sewing and I looked over and could read Emrie's face: she was about to climb the stairs. I told her no and as I was slowly moseying over to get her, she fell down about 4 stairs and smacked her head on the wood floor (in my defense we can't put up a baby gate because there is no wall along the first 4 stairs anyway). She cried and I thought she would learn her lesson. About 15 minutes later, she started climbing up the stairs again. This time I jumped out of my chair and ran to her. Too late. She fell about 3 stairs this time and smacked her head. I figured I would make a 'barricade' in front of the stairs. So I put the open pack-n-play in front of the stairs. Do you know that my 9 month old analyzed that crib, finally sat down on her butt, put her feet on the end of the crib and pushed the pack-n-play out of the way of the stairs and started climbing them again!

I can't even put her in the pack-n-play unattended anymore because she figured out that if she puts each foot in the corner of the pack-n-play she can shimmy up the sides high enough to lean over at the waist and pull herself out.

I have the McGyver of all babies!!!

As adventurous and busy as she always is, I am thankful for her health, curiosity, spunk and spirit! I am blessed to be her Mama!
