We were supposed to go whale watching on Monday night, but the weather was too windy and rough to head out. So we rescheduled for Wednesday night and the conditions were perfect.
I have to say, whale watching turned out to be my absolute most favorite thing we did ALL trip! It was an awesome experience and I'm sure the wonderful weather helped too!
We took off our shoes and headed to the catamaran
The water was crystal clear and gorgeous

The first set of whales we saw, a mother and baby. They were humpback whales and they migrate from Alaska to Hawaii every year. They mate and give birth in Hawaii (the week we were there was luckily the absolute peak of birthing season) and then the migrate back to Alaska to feed.
A whale's gestational period is 1 year and once they have the baby, the mother and baby only stay together 1 year and make the migration together before the baby is off on their own.
Unlike some other types of whales, humpback whales don't live or travel in pods, they are more isolated, although they do come together for certain things at times, like mating obviously:)
This little baby was breaching and eating at the same time. The skipper and first mate said they had never seen that happen in their 10 years doing this, we were just lucky enough to witness it!

Okay, maybe another reason whale watching was my favorite part of the trip, was the food. The appetizers on the boat were AMAZING. By far my favorite food the whole trip!
Time to head back in to Maui.
Back to shore and time for dinner
After we wrapped up the whale watching excursion, we docked at Whaler's Village and headed to Hula Grill for our final dinner.
The whole event was a fantastic final evening together in Maui!
