This may be my favorite transformation yet, and maybe I just feel that way because so far it has been the more work (it's really a toss up between this and the master bedroom), but I really do love this room now! Originally we didn't intend to work on this room for a while, but when we decided to do carpet downstairs, we figured we would go ahead and put it in here at the same time and that pushed this room to the front of the project list. We chose to go with carpet in here for four reasons: 1) The laminate flooring was buckling and peeling and looked pretty sad 2) Being an upstairs room noise traveled down and carpet mitigates that a lot 3) It has windows and a closet so it could technically be a bedroom at some point, and if we wanted it to be a bedroom we think carpet is a better fit 4) We want the girls to be able to play on the floor, and carpet is just more comfortable than laminate.
The room was really whimsical and fun, but just not my taste. Plus having been played in for the past several years by other kids, you can imagine it just needed a clean slate (and lots of filled holes in walls). We painted the silver ceiling white, the trim and window seat white, doors white, walls a grey color, changed out the ceiling fans and put in carpet. There is a ton of open space, which is just what we need to be able to run around, make a mess on the floor and just play (although I do want to hang some stuff on the walls, it is a little bare)! It was a LOT of work, but the girls just love it in here and so do I!
