February: The Good, The Bad and Some of The Ugly

February was a month of highs and lows.
High in emotions, low in temperatures.

Indiana set a record for snowiest winter EVER with 51.6 inches of snow accumulated from December through February 16th (that wasn't even through the whole month).

Cabin fever DEFINITELY set in and Phil and I felt like we couldn't catch a break on some of the smaller things.

With that said, like any period of life, we had glorious moments along with our not so glamorous moments.

Here is a brief recap of our month's highs and lows:

The Good:

Bundle Up Buddy was featured on Etsy on President's Day
It was very unexpected and very exciting

Spruced up the living room (I was so tired of brown EVERYTHING)

Before

After

I basically just bought new lamps, made new curtains, changed out the items in the tv hutch, moved Emrie's old white chair down from her room and added some fresh flowers, but it makes me so much happier to have things a little brighter in there!

Phil shocked me with an embroidery machine for Valentine's Day

My sister found me the perfect military jacket and shipped it to me

Aven's first dentist appointment was so cute

Growing a friendship (one of our playdates at the library story time)

Played in the snow

Emrie is LOVING learning her letters (and I love playing eye-spy with her everywhere we go)
One of our games we play at lunch is eye-spy letters in a magazine.  We try to cross off all the letters of the alphabet.

The girls are really starting to play together
They like to 'Cheers' their drinks all the time

The Bad:

Called poison control for the first time.  Emrie drank half a bottle of adult dayquil.  Still not sure how she got the lid off.  I was terrified and crying on the phone at first.  But after they assured me she only drank half of the amount needed to send her to the E.R. it was just kind of funny.  She was so loopy and was saying the weirdest/funniest things.  Talking about spiders and gummy bears and she said to me, "Mommy, I am fine, I am a good girl, I'm okay.  I don't like to eat birds, but I like honey."  And she kept saying she was dizzy and would stand up and fall over.

Got in a minor crash.  On Valentine's day we got hit AGAIN with ridiculous amounts of snow and I lost control while driving and slid into a curb.  It cracked my wheel and messed up my alignment.  The car was in the shop for a week and when we got it back the battery died.  A very costly week.  Car trouble makes everything sour.

Preschool was out for a week....grrrr....need I say more!

Little Aven was teething....grrrrrr....need I say more!

Miss Emrie has been struggling with obeying, and temper tantrums, and talking back.....grrrrr.....need I say more!

Some of The Ugly:

The month of February I felt like God was doing a work in me which was both beautiful and ugly.  It was ugly when was pounding my fists and shaking my head and refusing to let Him lead me.  It hurt when I felt like He was answering my prayers with a NO or not even answering them at all.  And it was beautiful when I was crying out to Him and I felt Him comforting me, or putting people in my life at the exact moment I needed them most.  Yes, God and I did battle in the month of February and it was not pretty at times, but it was deeply beautiful and I feel like that sums up my month of February perfectly!

Now...Onward March!
