Maui ~ On Our Own

We may have started off rocky (read here), but by Friday morning vacation was in full swing!  At 5:00 am we were picked up by a car service who took us to the airport.  We flew to Dallas and enjoyed a long, lovely, QUIET breakfast before we got on the plane and endured the 8.5 hour flight to Maui (I even found the flight to be relaxing.  Reading a whole book and catching several naps are luxuries in my world).

Once we got to Maui it was a little rainy and windy, but so pleasantly warm.  We were greeted by a rainbow, and I knew it was going to be a great week!

We rode to the Marriott Maui Ocean Club in Ka'anapali where the sky's cleared up and on our drive we looked out over the ocean and spotted many whales.  We stayed there two nights on our own before meeting up with the rest of the group Sunday evening.

After we checked in we walked from our room down a little boardwalk along the ocean to Whaler's Village for dinner.

Saturday morning we had a delicious breakfast and the weather was so wonderful we just laid out between the pool and the ocean on the soft grass all day!

We topped off the end of the first day with a delicious dinner at Hula Grill in Whaler's Village

By now we were thoroughly relaxed.  We started off our second day with a workout at the gym. Can't beat that view to motivate you to work out.

Then we enjoyed a long breakfast looking out over Lana'i and watching the whales since the weather was kind of crummy.  It was rainy for most of the morning, but by noon it cleared up.

We spent the afternoon sitting out on the balcony and roaming the grounds since we had to check out of our room.

Quite possibly the most beautiful view I saw the whole trip was out over the main pool at the Marriott

Wonderful and relaxing first two days by ourselves.  Now we are headed to meet the rest of the group at the Ritz for the rest of our stay. The fun is just getting started.

We stayed at the Ritz when we went back in 2006. They were doing some renovations back then. Have a blast!

  2. Hey Brooke! We were on a president's trip for Phil's company, we just went a few days early to have some alone time. We were meeting up with the rest of the people from his company when they all came in on Sunday. It was an AWESOME time. The whole trip was great!
